Cal grant now what?

Just found this CSAC tool:

https://m.csac.ca.gov/Grants4StudentsLogin.aspx

My daughter did have her CC listed first on her FAFSA so I told her to remove it and put her first school of choice… Since it takes some time for it to transfer to the Cal Grant application and the deadline is today, do you think it will affect her ability to get a Cal Grant?

Thanks to whomever posted this because we had no clue that we should not include her CC in her FAFSA although now that I think about it is actually logical …this should be a sticky.

@SockherMom

You can still have the CC on your FAFSA. Just don’t have it as the first choice. I think your daughter will be fine in regards to getting a cal grant.

Cayton-So you think instead of removing it she should leave it but make it her last choice?

That’s what I did just in case I somehow get rejected from every school I applied to. But if you’re certain your daughter will be accepted by at least one of the schools she applied to, then I suppose you don’t have to put her CC on her FAFSA.

What’s this website?
https://m.csac.ca.gov/Grants4StudentsLogin.aspx

It says that I was awarded 12000 bucks last year, but that’s not true according to this site

https://mygrantinfo.csac.ca.gov/logon.asp

I’m starting to love conflicting information.

@sega18

Dammit Cal grant websites get your ■■■■ together lol

Wait, I think I’m confused now too. My HS submitted for my Cal Grant 2 years ago before I even attended CC. The individual at my HS that submitted my Cal Grant notified me (or I got an email, I can;t remember from 2 years ago now) that everything went through and my Cal Grant award is good for the next 4 years although I knew I wasn;t going to be able to use it at CC. Now I’m done at CC and transferring for fall 2014. I submitted my FAFSA a couple weeks ago, but have done nothing for my Cal Grant. Do I need to resubmit verification for Cal Grant, or should I still be holding the award that my HS processed 2 years ago and I’ll just need to update to the 4-year I’ll now be attending? I did list my CC on my FAFSA just in case something happens, but I’m fairly certain it was the last one I entered - put all the schools I applied to first. Thanks for any insight.

I’m fairly certain your CC submitted your GPA for you online.

@sega18 - The link I provided just gives additional information.

Like the 12k was the possible award but next to where it says Cal Grant it should either say Score Below Cutoff like it did for me or it should list your score and say Cal Grant Awarded.

But either way it’s still only showing the 13-14 school year on both

They’re doing Maintenance on the Cal Grant site today as well as sending out UCSD admissions decisions anyone think it’s related?

@Matt4200

It’s best to assume it’s a coincidence and nothing more.

@Cayton - Some people on the UCSD thread said they could see their financial aid package when they were admitted wouldn’t the Cal Grant be a part of that??

@Matt4200

Yes, but I think those cal grant applications are still being processed, so they may update those financial aid packages.

Hmmmm is that something they normally do?

@Matt4200

I’m just guessing. I wouldn’t know.

cal grant website had been doing maintenance for a couple of days now
