im an out of state student and was heavily dependent on cal grants. i get this call a couple of days ago and basically theyre taking away my cal grants because i didnt graduate from a high school in CA. even though im a resident of ca i guess it still doesnt matter. Does anyone know if theyre able to do this?
i mean what about students that got their G.E.D. does that make them inelgible for cal grants just because they didnt graduate from an actual high school in CA? this is really stupid. now i know i cant possible afford the tuition whatsoever. The rep from the CSAC said UCLA might be able to find some sort of grants in place of the cal grants .. but i truly feel like im getting f ed over.

Yeah don't get too down, UCLA will probably give you a University Grant. I have had so many problems with my damn Cal grants. Two out of the three years i've been in school, when I got my intital financial aid statments, they had no Cal Grants on them.

However, I have always got University grants. When I got the Cal Grants straighted around, both times, they just substracted what I eventually got from the Cal Grant from my University Grant. So for me it really wasn't worth the headache, but I'd like to think I free'd up some money for someone else here.

the worse part. is that they called me an hour before my final. so i was stressing hardcore!!!!

so i guess the university is replacing the cal grants with their own grants.
