Do I add my current community college and indicate the change of school on WebGrants4 Students when I get my decisions or do I go ahead and add the school(s) that I think I will be attending this upcoming Fall?

I am applying for the CalGrant through the DreamAct if that makes a difference.
Thank you.

Yes, I think the order does count. On this website <a href=“CSAC - Student Landing Home”>CSAC - Student Landing Home; which gives you info on the status of your CalGrant, UCLA shows up as the school I will be attending and I’m sure it’s because it was the first school I added to my FAFSA and not because they’ve somehow gotten the heads up that I’m already accepted to UCLA.

It’s OK, I’ve been checking my UC application practically every day to see if I made some horrible mistake that needs to be corrected. I’ve found none so far, but you can never be too certain lol

excuse me for my stupid question…but what is the difference between Cal Grant and Fafsa?! I mean I am in Santa Monica College, and when I fill out my fafsa, I will receive grant automatically. What is Cal Grant?! is it some kind of grant that UCs provide?! I’m confused!!

Fafsa is an APPLICATION for FEDERAL aid. Cal Grant is STATE aid. It just so happens that the cal grant application is the fafsa (for convenience)

DO NOT put current CC as first college on application. I did that and it ruined my chances of getting the cal grant. I called them after the fact saying that it doesn’t state anywhere the importance of order on the application and the guy said there was nothing I could do.

They’re not even close to the same thing. FAFSA is the application you put in for financial aid to get money from the United States government. A Cal grant is basically free money the state of California gives you depending on a few factors. Submitting your FAFSA application allows you to be eligible to receive a Cal grant.

What if your cal grant is renewing and you have been using it for a CC before transferring? I put CPP as my first choice on the FAFSA, so the cal grant will automatically choose CPP as my main school?

Thanks…I wonder what kind of Grant is the one I am getting from my CC right now!! lol
But that’s great I guess, I’m probably eligible to get more money for school next year…I have to start filling out forms!
