<p>When they say "up to $9,700", how do they determine how much you actually get? (My stats: 3.9 unweighted GPA and an EFC of $60.00).</p>
<p>You get a certain amount for public schools and a higher amount for private schools. Some UCs have you take the Cal Grant B, which is lower than the A the first year, those schools make up the difference with campus awards. Then in subsequent years the Cal Grant B is about 5x what it was the first year.</p>
<p>As to GPA etc., you either qualify or you don't, no more is given for better stats.</p>
