i got accepted for cal grant b and it says that i would get around 1500 but apparently i also qualify for cal grant a, but there is no amount indicated under the column, just the fact that i qualify for it. what should i do?

Cal Grant B is the better one, don't worry about A. When I called UC Irvine financial aid department the lady told me all about cal grants. For Cal Grant B, you get ~1500 the first year, but the next years you'll get tuition paid for PLUS that extra $1500 to spend on books and other stuff. She told me that in the long run Cal Grant B is definitely better.

For Cal Grant A, you receive what is listed.

Is this true for just Irvine? or for everywhere else?

Wow, i've never heard that one before

I was also told the same thing by the UCSD financial aid office. I kept asking why it would be better to get the $1551 for cal grant B when another cal grant A said ~6500 and both financial aid offices said that cal grant B will cover tuition AND you get the $1551 for other stuff.

You can call them and ask if you want :)

I guess i'm going to call..
