Cal Housing - "Can you see the Application" list

There isnt really that many different people on this thread (relative to the number of applicants), and frankly those that are on this board are some of the most conscious students out there.

It woulden't surprise me that most people on the board get in.

Inter transfer UC's applicants that can't see the app, that is interesting......

tupac4ever, how could you be an intercampus and be in a "guaranteed admission program" (from your previous post) to Berkeley? As far as I know, there's no such program with a 15 year history (again from your previous post) that guarantees intercampus transfers anything.

"I think the amount of people who could see it plus, lets say 1/2 to a 1/4 of people who can't see it, would equal still less than the amount of people admitted to UCLA from this board."

Of course this is true, but not meaningful - something REAL, like acceptance to UCLA garners a lot more responses than the housing theory. I'm speaking proportionally, the [A + (1/3)B]/(A+B)], where A can see, and B cannot. This accepted/rejected ratio is a great deal higher than the acceptance ratio I'm seeing for UCLA and especially for last year's Cal ratio. I'd personally venture that A/(A+B) is already too high, assuming that something like 65 to 70% of the board's students are accepted (generous?). Someone can run a page or two of the numbers, maybe I will tomorrow, they seem fairly evenly distributed.

Then again in four days it will have been a waste of time because the theory will be tested more rigorously than statistics allow. If only I were that patient!

I am with you Wilderr, its almost 2:00am and I can only think about:

"Will I get into berk"

"If I do, will I go there or UCLA"

"I can see the housing application, does that matter"

I like stats, and I think your 65% of the boards students would be a fair guess.

**** it I just hope everyone who REALLY wants to go to Cal gets in :]

**** yeah!!!!!!

woo hoo..thats what I like to hear...man, its all I can think about!!!

so..btw, i kinda applied for housing even though i want to do the co-op tings just to see if it would go through...it did...and i guess 20 bucks was charged to my bear card thingy whatnot...hmmm...anyone else as stupid as me???

Yeah, I did the same exact thing. Went through just fine.

Hope it means accpeted but??? A person can hope....

did u guys also get an email confirming it?

diddo!!...i fell in love with the school this past weekend..i had NO interest in going there until i visited a friend for a long weekend,,,it was amazing! I can not even think of attending another University...

I didn't get an e-mail confirming it, santa, but I DID e-mail the housing people to see if it had been received. They said they got it with no problems, and they will make housing decisions around mid-June. They told me to "keep checking my e-mail for when they make their decisions."

I have a question: like a month ago, i received a phone call from a UCB admissions employee. They asked me if i took three years of high school language. I told them that i thought i had checked the box on my application, and that i was sorry for the mistake. I told her i did, and asked if their was anything else i could help her with. She said no. Said goodbye, and hung up. That is all the communication i have had with UCB, that and the ordinary emails sent out after submitting my app.

When in the decision process do they look at language requirements?

??? I would assume its part of the review... I don't think there are multiple stages unless you are on the cusp... You either meet the language requirement or you dont..

Kind of like IGETC certified or Not.... If you actually dont have the requirements, I would assume that would be something they will revoke your application for....especially since you checked that you had it...

They will check your transcripts if they offer you "conditional acceptance" your admission it is subject to meeting everything you indicated on your application.

When in doubt, write a letter and send it to the admissions office ASAP.

Here's an interesting idea: if we assume that roughly 70% of the people on the boards get accepted, what percentage of people on here can see the application? I haven't done the math, but I'd guess it's about 70%. Just an interesting thought.

Can anybody see it that hasn't previously applied and/or attended UCB at some point? As far as I know that seems to be the common link right. Can anybody starting with 19 see it?

nooooooooope

I'll post this again because I'm curious:

tupac4ever, how could you be an intercampus and be in a "guaranteed admission program" (from your previous post) to Berkeley? As far as I know, there's no such program with a 15 year history (again from your previous post) that guarantees intercampus transfers anything.

Laneb that is exactly what we were talking about heh...

P.S. I think it is a lot higher, seems like about 9/10 people who have applied before can see it, and none who haven't already applied can. Meaning it seems to indicate something other than admission.

That's incorrect, lostincode, we did have an example of a 19 who could see it. And I don't think 9/10 of the people who applied before can see it. We are up to seven people who applied in HS who can't see it, and two interncampus who can't.

I think the problem isn't finding a non-HS applicant who can see it, but a non-HS applicant in general. Do we have anyone on here on who has no previous connection Berkeley whatsoever, regardless of the housing app?
