So I got “denied” by Cal Poly SLO…for transfer of Spring 2011 in their Business Administration program.

In that letter, they said the reason was not that I was not qualified but "large amount of applications and limited openings for Spring 2011 BA program.
They said to apply for Fall 2011 again…

Should I take what they said in the letter by heart and apply again or just dismiss it and keep my $75 application?

I am so sorry about your denial letter. i am sure you are disappointed. I would listen to them and apply for the Fall. They will admit more people then for sure. Not very many people are accepted for Spring quarter because the year is already in progress. I think you would be better off starting in the Fall when most students start. If CP is your #1 choice, then it is worth the $75 to give it another try. You will always wonder “what if…?” if you don’t. Best of Luck!

Definitely apply again for Fall 2011.
At the mean time, complete as much prerequisites that you have remaining (even better if you can finish everything listed on assist.org). Complete the entire CSU GE pattern and have it certified at your CCC. This will maximise your chance on getting in, though still not guaranteed.

Good Luck

P.S. I also applied more than once to get in, so I somewhat know how you feel.

Did any rejects from SLO get a letter that was more of a straight up- you have been rejected due to your grades?
I dont want to apply for Fall 2011 if everyone got the same response in their rejection…

Rejection was because of the intense competition for that major. There’s a lot of internal transfer applicants right now. As an internal transfer, you have to take a calc, stat, and econ class with at least a 3.3gpa avg.

I also applied to their Business program as a transfer from CSUF for the fall, I should have all my pre-reqs completed by spring, and I have a 3.9 GPA, but I feel like I have no shot.
