Cal Poly Dorms

what is poly canyon?

^ on campus apartments

isnt cerro vista on campus apartments?

Cerro Vista is on campus apartments for freshman and transfer students. Poly Canyon is for second year and above. The floor plans are similar, but Poly Canyon has its own little village of shops, a pool, and other amenities. You can look at pictures and floor plans in the Housing Section of the Cal Poly website.

ditto what vballmom and hbparents said about CV. My son loves it there. It’s pretty cushy living for freshman I must admit. He has a big screen TV in the living room and his other flat screen in his bedroom. It seems like the best of both worlds. You have roomates to hang out with but if you want privacy you can just go to your room. I think the only complaints he has is it tends to get warm (no A/C) and climbing the hill. But I only think he has mentioned those things once. I’m sure it’s less social than the typical dorms on campus but he’s had no problem meeting a lot of people.
Good luck with your choice!

which dorms would be best between yosemite, sierra madre, santa lucia, and the North halls?

Im going in as an engineer and i was just wondering, also i would rather not have three to a room ha

im pretty sure you choose how many you live with, along with how much you are going to pay… three=less, two = slightly more. you just have to make sure you dont slack on signing up for housing.

Ok so has anyone done the LLP (living learning program), or what is it really?
Is it helpful?

I think LLP is basically where they try to put the people who live near each other in the dorms together also in the same classes. So if you live in North Mountain for example, you’ll meet other people who live North Mountain in your classes. That way you could help each other study together.

i am a freshman this year and i am telling you that yosemite is the best dorm, everyone is like, ooh its so far away, well it really isnt much further than sierra madre. I am in sierra madre and its fun and all but yosemite is even better because there are guys and girls on the same floor. North Mountain halls are kind of weird i have a few friends there and when i go over its always tough because they have a triple, which is tight. you have to take that into account if your thinking of north mountain. the red bricks are alright but the rooms are smaller than sierra madre or yosemite and you can get put into a triple here also. cerro vista is really nice, the hill isnt that bad and everything is basically brand new, and you get your own room.

Thanks for the clarification compwiz.

Ok surfboard3r, I thought triples were only in the south mountain halls, they’re in north too?

What is the Fremont Hall like?
