Cal Poly Fall 2013 Admission Decisions

I got rejected from csulb and accepted to slo as well. To answer your question, no it does not mean anything regarding the admission decision. A previous poster called and the admission guy said they send out random batches which end on April 1st. Good luck!

Guess we just keep checking the portal & stay positive. I’m glad this craziness affects only me & not my son lol thank you for the advice :)

@RocketMom95 that’s great! I’m happy for him and im sure you are as well, and tell him I said hello as well haha! He applied to some very high caliber schools, that’s awesome. I’m hoping I get decisions rather quickly because I want enough time to compare all of the schools I was applied to and look at factors like location, financial aid package, housing, etc. Good luck to your son and hopefully we will be able to meet at cal poly!

Socal29…LOL…I (mom) am also the one affected by the craziness. What makes it even harder is trying not draw S into my circle of nuts. He’s also applied as an ME. Still no determination.

@dietz199 why is it the mom’s job to stress details? Lol I guess we should be glad our sons are more calm and take a more ‘whatever happens happens’ attitude. Good luck to us both as we wait and see. my son’s been accepted at csulb, cal poly Pomona, UCM, & NAU - he figures he has good options already and it’s out of his hands at this point how the unheard from schools end up - still waiting for UCSB UCI SDSU & SLO… Hang in there! :+1::smiley: it’s all we can do

You’re absolutely right. My son doesn’t get it that I am more nervous than him : )

Cal Poly is a great option. Can’t wait to find out more on 4/19.

For those who are still waiting, I completely understand because we are still waiting to hear from some other schools. Good luck!

On being rejected from CSULB but rejected to SLO, why is that? Isn’t SLO more reputable and in theory much harder to get into?

Could it possibly be because you’re a minority at SLO, but at CSULB you’re not?

Same here, anxious mom checking routinely for son’s biomedical engineering acceptance. I am thinking there are more parents on this thread than kids
Son has thus far got accepted at the ASU’s Barrett honor school and SCU. Waiting to hear from CP, UCs, Rice and Duke.
Good luck to all who are still waiting…

I assume you mean accepted to SLO. Race isn’t considered in admissions to California public universities. There used to be a slight advantage to being in the CP-SLO service area (geography) which might still be a factor. And likewise, if you’re not in the CSULB service area you might be at a slight disadvantage.

WAITING…UGH! Us moms are more stressed because we all know what’s at stake. CalPoly is attractive on many levels. Solid education. Close to home (as opposed to east coast). Hopefully see our kids every couple of months. And best of all affordable CS TUTION!!! As of last night D1’s portal showed “no determination”. Will post stats and outcome after we receive notice. Good Luck everyone!

“rejected from CSULB accepted to SLO”

All the Cal State (and Cal Poly’s) are objective vs. the UC’s which are a little more subjective. But, they might do it in a different way. I know that SDSU has a formula that takes into account your GPA and your SAT or ACT score with bonus points for being in their local service area and then, according to major, above a certain number you are in, below you are out. Cal Poly SLO formula is more complex and also takes into account your strength of schedule and whether or not you participated in EC’s.

Waiting is terrible! Lol I think because as moms we are used to scheduling EVERYTHING and the unknown is frustrating lol just remember everything will be ok…eventually! Haha

Can we keep the thread on topic about decisions please ?

Wow… #smh
As of now, change in my son’s status.

@vulpesinculta yes thanks! please only update this thread regarding useful info about admissions?

I haven’t heard back yet… I mean… I’m not the smartest student (I’d say myself) I had a pretty bad day on the day of my only SAT, which landed me with like a 1450 or something really terrible like that (death of a close uncle) and my gpa is like a 3.9? i have had a few extra curric and a lot of community hours… my girlfriend who got accepted yesterday for the same major had a 3.9 and a 1560 on her sat… and this is for materials engineering… how many people have heard back specifically for the materials engineering major? I’m super scared because honestly this is my top school… I’m freaking nervous as heck because I pray somehow there is a miracle worked within me… I feel like I stand no chance against others /;

Hey don’t worry just yet eazycompany! You still have more than a month until they send out every single acceptance letter :stuck_out_tongue: My SAT score isn’t so great either, and my GPA is about the same.

I am so tired of waiting! All of my friends found out on February 19th! I hate waiting! When do you guys think I’ll find out? I applied 11/21/12. Bio major.

Has anyone been accepted or rejected for child development?

I’m here to give you guys some hope!
I got in on 2/21 with a 3.65 csu gpa and 26 on ACT
my major in Economics. KEEP YOUR HOPES UP!!!
