I applied for both CSU pomona & CSULB this year engineering grad student. I didn’t notice this before until today I received my fin aid offer of 20K Direct loan from Pomona.
Pomona costs $7,384 !? With this fee, the whole amount of loan is not enough for tuition, let loan housing, food…
CSULB costs $3,369.00

[Tuition and Fees at CSULB](http://www.csulb.edu/depts/enrollment/registration/fees_basics.html)

I don’t understand ? Aren’t they both in CSU system particularly known affordable among low-income students ? Can anyone kindly shed me some insights on whether it is worth the cost to go Pomona ?

It looks to me as though that CPP amount is per year, while the CSULB number is for one semester. Also, the CPP number includes some mandatory fees that CSULB charges on top of the tuition amount you quoted.

you’re looking at cpp posting information for a year vs CSULB quoting by semester. you should know something is wrong when you see 3 grand for a year of schooling.

also note that (at least for the time being) you’re getting 3 classes completed during the same time you do 2 at CSULB

Holy **** ! You are right ! I was really distressed by the fees but now it seems they both have approximately same cost
Thanks for the clarification !

even at twice the price, Cal Poly Pomona would be twice the education, especially for engineering. But no, really, they’re both the same price. Also keep in mind, most CSUs and UCs will tack on a few hundred dollars for Rec Centers, athletics and such.
