I’m stuck between the two schools, I want a school that looks better overall. I’m a bit undecided but I have an idea if I go to Cal poly Pomona I’d major either in hospitality or business and if I went to San Jose state I’d major in business or industrial design which is product designing. The only advantage I think San Jose has is that it has more majors to choose from and it’s located in Silicon Valley where all the jobs are. Where do you think is a better school like which is better for the name? Also which has better connections in the long run ? I need to pick between the two in the next two weeks or so ! Please suggestion!!
Are the costs the same? Have you visited both schools and talked to students/professors about your intended majors/major? Did you check about the career center in regards to internships/jobs?
Being in Silicon Valley or not in Silicon Valley will not determine if you get a job. Ultimately it is not the school you attend, but what kind of job skill set you bring to the employer.
Both are good schools. In the abstract, one won’t open doors the other won’t. Visit the schools, talk to current students - go where you feel most comfortable.
The price is about the same, cal poly maybe cost just $200 more. But that’s so small it should not matter. Most of my teachers think I should go to San Jose state because it has more major options since I’m a bit undecided on what I want to do. I plan on becoming a event planner or doing something in business. Which has a better business program? And I know cal poly has the best hospitality college in California but I feel like it’s more towards for being a chef, but I’m targeting towards being an event planner . Thank you for letting me know that just being in Silicon Valley won’t get me the job that’s something I will definitely take into consideration. Im thinking of getting a part time job there for experience as well, then in this case would I get the advantage of going to San Jose state ? I visited both, I liked cal ploy pomonas campus more because it was bigger in acres and because I really wanted to be in Southern California . I have not checked the career center, thank you so much for the advice !
Silicon Valley is very $$$$ for housing… something to consider too
