I agree with @youcee, based on previous year’s threads, in-state may start getting their acceptances tomorrow. Posting of the majority of acceptances could last several days. Once the majority of the acceptances are posted, then waitlisted applicants and denials will be next which could be into March.
My son’s portal just got updated. Accepted Mechanical Engineering. OOS
What are his stats? @GohFromToaPayoh
What does this message on the Cal Poly sing in page mean “POLY PLANNER & PEOPLESOFT OUTAGE 2/15 8pm - MIDNIGHT” ? does that mean after 12am we can see new acceptances ?
@Justlookingahead I doubt it. I assume they will be undergoing maintenance tonight in preparation for a wave of acceptances throughout the day tomorrow.
How exciting !!!
Has anyone been accepted for biomedical engineering yet?
Daughter’s portal just updated.

Nope! I’m getting very nervous.
Is the portal still getting updated? So, is there a chance that I can still get an acceptance tonight? I’m an OOS student

To correct some misinformation in @dankiel’s post. First the Red Bricks aka South Mountain are coed on each floor, one side is female the other side is male. The room sizes are slightly smaller than the Towers. Red Bricks 11’x13’ vs Towers 8 1/3’x19 1/3 vs almost exact total square footage with a extra 8" in ceiling height for Towers. North Mountain are bigger at 13’x19’ but are now listed as all triples. It is better size wise than any other option, but does not have social areas, and are the oldest dorms by far. The Red Bricks each have a large lobby, study areas, quiet study areas and a large game/meeting room. This is not true for the Towers or North Mountain although the Towers have one or two large meeting areas and some small areas on each floor outside of the rooms similar to the non first floor Red Bricks. The Red Bricks are probably the most popular housing choice so I would have to strongly disagree with @dankiel’s opinion. I would suggest you look over the many sites with housing information and make your own decision which is best for you.
Regarding apartments, most will agree if you can get one of the extremely rare 4 person apartments (as they were designed) they have definite living advantages, however, a huge number of students feel quite isolated in the apartments and have difficulty making friends, while the dorms are much more social. VERY FEW upperclassmen live in PCV, it is mostly freshmen and sophomores, though supposedly starting in 2017 no freshmen will live there. There are more amenities than he mentioned including a restaurant, and the store sells prepared foods in addition to overpriced groceries. It is uphill from the dorms, and maybe the same or slightly above the Cerro Vista Apartments. PCV (completed 2009) is newer than CV (completed 2003). Both apartments are about a 10 minute walk from the campus core. Again, apartments can be very lonely, and are quite tight for 6 when originally built for 4 which is why they are about $500 a year cheaper than a triple in the dorms. The bedrooms are only 107 sq ft which is why when they are turned into doubles you have to have bunked beds and only one desk fits in the room. There aren’t real close off campus dining choices, but there are choices across Foothill which is on the opposite side of the campus from the housing. The buses are free and easily get students downtown.
Between CV, North Mountain, Red Bricks, and Towers there are only 3579 beds, with a class size averaging around 4500 somehow they need to create an additional 1000 beds if no freshmen will be in PCV. I assume pretty much all apartments will be “double suites”, and almost all dorm rooms will be triples. You can call housing to confirm.
About 33% of continuing students currently live on campus (the vast majority being second year students) but when the new dorms open in 2018 the are planning on making it mandatory for Sophomores as well as Freshmen to live on campus. It is also the plan to turn Cerro Vista into continuing student apartments, and have all freshmen live in dorms. (according to published reports) but that is another story. Finally there are no “off campus” dorms, closest is one complex called Stenner Glen and it is not affiliated with Cal Poly and does not qualify for freshman housing. All other off campus rentals are apartments and houses available to rent and a few Greek residences for non freshmen.
Does anyone know how to accept your admission (like commit to the school, start making down payments, etc) once accepted? Do you have to wait for your acceptance email to arrive? My portal was updated today and I’d like to commit ASAP but cant seem to find any way to confirm admission.
