Cal Poly Regular Decision Thread 2016-2017

Are we seriously not hearing about kinesiology until tuesday?

@aggro456 I have a feeling we might :frowning: I HATEEEE THIS WAITING

where did you hear that?

@sophmapalo im just guessing because I doubt they would release it on a weekend or holiday

getting worried…
bio major with 4.13 GPA
1420/1600
2120/240
lots of ec and work experience
still “under determination”
anyone in the same boat?

@liveloveride45 I think the thing is you can’t really tell cal poly you have EC and work experience since the application doesn’t ask you for your specific ec and work experience

was accepted to Slo and found out around 2 o clock this afternoon.
business adminstration major
4.24 GPA
1230/1600
i have more work experience than EC (besides joining programs and volunteering and doing community college) < i dont think this would matter tho because the application didn’t ask what my activities were

@liveloveride45 yea im in the same boat as you bud

@liveloveride45 similar stats, no determination. Hoping for more acceptances to be posted, any info?

Applied in-state for Aerospace Engineering, and got accepted! MCA was 4704.

The portal was updated around lunch-ish today.

In the dreaded “no news” boat for DS. Not a fun place to be on a Friday night.
I don’t think we can look at last year’s patterns since they had ED/RD last year, and this year they only have RD. My best guess is that they will do two rounds of acceptances. The first will be those with great stats and a high likelihood of accepting their offer (though not sure how they can tell that). Hopefully they will accept a bigger pool from the wait-list this year, since without ED, it is likely they will get more people refusing their offer.

My son received his acceptance email a few hours ago, so about a day after his portal updated. It said Cal Poly received over 57,000 applications for the Fall 2017.

Does Cal Poly ever consider accepting under the second choice majors?

@chowthebest Yes, yesterday.

Just want to throw this out there… When I visited Cal Poly last year, they made a big deal about foreign language being a requirement for freshmen. They said 2 years of foreign language is required, and 4 years is desired. Also those years should be in the same language, not just 1st year of multiple languages. I’m a transfer student, so fortunately I’m off the hook on that point. So I might not be remembering what they said quite correctly. But I noticed that hardly anyone here is mentioning how many years of foreign language they have. That could make a big difference.

Electrical engineering accepted earlier today around 12. MCA around 4700. Took 3 years of foreign language (skipped Spanish 3 so basically took 4 years) if that helps anyone.

Interesting. I took Latin for one year and then bailed out and took three years of French. But I think two extra years of language only adds 100 points to the MCA. Guessing that wasn’t the make/break point for most people. My friend is business admin and has really high stats–higher than most stats I have seen others in business admin post. But his portal still says no determination. I can’t figure it out.

So if I did not get anything today is this bad news?

I feel like at this point no one for sure knows what’s happening and what’s going to happen in regards to acceptences. So, for all of the people who are still waiting for an answer, we just need to wait (even though it has been SOOO hard) and not assume anything until the portal actually gives us a definite answer. I hoping more acceptences will come for all majors (in state and OOS) but for now I guess “no determination” is better than denied.

Son accepted
