I was rejected off the wait list yesterday from SLO. It was the only school that I applied to that I was rejected from and I’m curious to know why. Can anyone tell me the stats of those who made it in or if there is some specific reason they can think of I didn’t make it?
ACT: 33
CSU GPA: 4.33
Took 8 AP classes
Took Calc 3 and differential equations from a local community college
Took Linear algebra online through Stanford
Was involved in a couple community service clubs at my high school which met during lunch every week and did various projects outside of school. Was very involved with bloodsource and volunteered every time they came to our school. Did not do much community service other than that. Did soccer freshman and sophomore year.
Did others have better stats or were they looking for other things I did not have>
I can’t explain it unless your ACT was low. Although your composite is good, Poly only takes math and English. What were they? What lab science classes did you take? English? Foreign language? Performing arts? Go to the “Confused by MCA” thread and look at post #52. Calculate yours and reply back.
If you have the time to help me calculate it that would be wonderful.
I have come to the score of 4705 but I am unsure if this is accurate for a few reasons.
- Do only classes taken at the high school count as part of the math scores? If so I am not sure what the score would be because I took algebra 2 at the high school in eighth grade, and only 3 classes (each one counts as 2 semesters because we are on a 4x4 schedule) that I physically attended at the high school during frosh-sr year with 3 additional math classes at colleges.
ACT Math 34 CR 30 (English 31 Science 35)
took 3 semesters of foreign language
4 of English
8 semesters of lab sciences (AP environmental, H physics, AP physics 1, H chem, bio, adv bio, anatomy and physiology).
Only 1 semester of performing arts
(remember all semesters are equivalent of 2 by cal poly because our school is on the 4x4)
As I understand the 4x4 program…you complete a full year in only one semester. If this is the case and you believe you had that high of an MCA, I think you should call admissions and see if they have the same MCA for you. Possibly, there is a discrepancy you can argue?
