I have a 3.6 GPA and 27 ACT.
Cal poly is my 2nd choice and I would really like to go there. My major is poltical science and people always say admission into cal poly is all major based. Do you think I have a good chance of getting in because of my obscure major?

The college of liberal arts, which political science is in, has an average ACT of 28 and average CSU GPA (a type of weighted GPA, idk if this is what you listed or not) of 3.87. So it seems that you are a little below average, but that definitely does not mean you can’t get in.
There is a list of the admit rate of each major for each college, but I can’t find it anymore, so maybe someone else could help you there. Otherwise, you should just keep up your GPA. There are other factors that go into admission as well, like the level of courses you take (honors, AP, etc), so if you have those then your chances will be boosted as well.

I was just accepted into Cal Poly’s poli sci program. I am also pretty excited as Cal poly is also my second choice. What made you choose CalPoly for PS? What is your first choice?
