So I have been accepted to cal poly SLO and Stony Brook for computer engineering. I would pay out-of-state tuition for both, I don't care. I prefer SLO over stony brook but I don't know which one has better computer engineering dept. Also I heard that it might take 5 years to graduate from SLO because of the budget cuts. So which university is better - Cal Poly SLO or
Stony Brook? And has Cal Poly been really affected by the budget cuts?

What state do you live in now ? One college is on the east and other in the west so the transportation cost will be very high and cannot be ignored…I would recommend Cal Poly just because of its location in California.

I live in CA. I’m an international student so I don’t care if the college is on the east or the west. I love west and really don’t wanna move to the east but if Stony Brook is better or cal poly has been affected by budget cuts, i don’t mind moving. :D

Cal Poly is probably better for engineering because of its location near the big companies in California. I don’t think budget cuts will have a significant effect on individual level.

In fact, budget cuts have made it difficult to get classes - but not impossible. There is a high possibility of needing at least an extra semester at SLO. It depends on where you are in the signup list. But the school is great.
