Cal Poly SLO's "Freshman On-Campus Living Exemption Policy."

I’m looking into colleges right know (not something for this forum, I know) but this question came up. I and my brother both intend to attend the same college simultaneously as incoming freshman. At the same time, my longtime girlfriend will be completing her degree and would have the ability to move in with me. We’d like to be able to rent an apartment together as by all calculations it would save everyone money right off the bat (which is all too important). However, aside from reasons in the range of pre-established living conditions in the area I’m not so sure how sympathetic SLO or any other
CSU is with it’s “Freshman On-Campus Living Exemption Policy.” and my particular scenario.

http://housing.calpoly.edu/sites/housing.wcms.calpoly.edu/files/documents/exemption_policy.pdf indicates that you can fulfill the exemption by marrying her (which you can do in California whether you are male or female). It also says that financial hardship after financial aid will be considered for exemption, though this is not a guarantee that you will get it.

That is true @ucbalumnus Thanks for the input.

Unless you live close to the school and intend to live with your parents your chances are pretty slim to skirt any requirement for freshmen to live on campus. In some cases it’s actually a requirement by the town/city that the campus resides.
