Hi there. I am an incoming student at Cal Poly SLO for bioresource and agricultural engineering. I was rejected by UC Davis for mechanical engineering. Is it possible for me to switch from CPSLO to Davis for either ME or biotechnology (in the college of agriculture) in Davis? If so how early can I do it and what do I have to do?
As a CSU student, you are low in priority for transferring to a UC. If you are dead-set on going to UC Davis (or any other UC), I would strongly recommend going to community college. You will save a lot of money and at least for Davis you can get TAG into either Mech E. or Biotechnology.
UC to UC transfers are still a lower priority than a CC to UC transfer and if you use TAG you are guaranteed admission if you meet all the requirements. Also if you are Undeclared at UCSB, you may not be able to enroll in the Engineering course requirements to transfer.
I agree, if UCD is your target then go to your local CC and TAG.
You need 60 semester/90 quarter units minimum to transfer to a UC which is around 2 years.
CSU to UC transfers are difficult since some the CSU classes do not articulate to UC courses so it will be up to you to match the courses needed for transfer.
You can get guaranteed admission to UC Davis through the TAG program by attending a community college as long as you complete the necessary courses and maintain the required GPA for the TAG program. If you are absolutely set on going to UC Davis, this is your best option to get in. Transferring from a CSU ( or a UC) to a UC is extremely difficult as the UCs heavily prioritize CC students for transfer as they are obligated to by California law. CC is your best option if you are 100% set on transferring to a UC.
