<p>I got into both for animal science and I’m just wondering which campus will people recommend base on that major. I’m hoping to look for opportunities and perhaps hands on experiments such as working with animals. I know both campus are isolatedish… which I don’t mind. Also, since I want to become a veterinarian, I’m just wondering, which school is easier in terms of grades and which school prepares you more for a vet grad school?

<p>My daughter also got into both UC Davis and Cal Poly last year. She chose Poly as a Kinesiology major. Her roommate is an Animal Science major at CP with hopes of going onto vet school and later practice as a large animal vet, preferably with horses. From what I’ve heard, she’s **very **happy with it. As previously stated, Cal Poly is very hands-on. I’m sorry I can’t tell you anything about Davis’ program other than their vet school. As for being “isolated”, if you’re at Cal Poly you’ll enjoy more moderate weather. And, the beach is 15 minutes away. Not to mention all the other outdoor activities on and off campus. The town of SLO is a fun place for students, although I know downtown Davis is, too. But, again, you’re going to have a more extreme climate there.</p>

<p>If you want to know about the towns, Davis and SLO are really similar in size.
UCD is a really big campus but downtown Davis is really near by. And having visited SLO, Davis and SLO are very much similiar in town size and town feel. Honestly, I like SLO more because downtown is more lively and I think much better than Davis’ seeing as they have a lively Farmer’s Market Thursday nights and it seems like there’s more to do. Maybe it’s because I’ve lived in Davis for so long, but there’s not much to do downtown besides eat. There’s also a farmer’s market wednesday nights and saturday mornings. They’re very similar college towns.</p>
