My D is deciding between Graphic Communication at Cal Poly and Design at UCD. She is leaning towards Cal Poly’s more technical Graphic Comm. major. I have read many wonderful reviews about Cal Poly’s engineering and architecture majors. But can anyone tell me about the graphic communication major. We will visit UCD on April 6th and we will attend Cal Poly’s Open House. Thanks!

GRC sounds like a cool major at Cal Poly. I think the web and digital media publishing concentration sounds especially interesting. I’m a liberal arts major, and I feel I out of all the liberal arts majors at Cal Poly, GRC receives some of the most attention and recognition. I regret not changing my major to grc when I still had the chance. I don’t know too much about the program, but they have an on campus printing company called UGS, and they also print the mustang daily, which is pretty cool. They have some sort of connection with NYU for a graduate program as well. The teachers seem quite knowledgeable, and the classes sound like a lot of fun. You get to make things like stickers and book covers. If you take a tour of the department, I’m sure you’ll be able to see all they have to offer.
