Cal Poly Wine and Viticulture

I have been accepted to both WSU and Cal Poly’s wine and vit programs, and from what I’ve been able to see, both schools are excellent for this. Can anyone offer any information about the program in either school? That would be much appreciated.

Hi there. I was also accepted into both schools. Along with Fresno state. WSU has 32 people in their viticulture-Enology major. Cal Poly has hundreds. WSU has 3 campuses around Washington…the Tri Cities campus is building a 24 million dollar wine facility for faculty and students. It should be up and running in 2014. Washington wine is on the rise. But Cal Poly is Cal Poly. Big fish little pond (WSU). Small fish big pond (cal poly). It’s all up to you where you want to go. Both have great programs. One is smaller and on the incline, one is big and still on the incline. Congratulations, stoked on your admittance. I’m sure you’ve worked hard. Keep up the good work.

I don’t have a lot of detailed knowledge into CP wine program. But bear in mind that Cal Poly is located in a prime wine growing region in CA with many famous commercial vineyard nearby, and from what I heard Cal Poly’s private vineyard on campus is producing some outstanding wine.

Thanks, and congratulations to you as well! I thought about applying to Fresno but decided against it in the end. Thanks again for all the info, I guess I have some campus visits to arrange.
