I have to decide between CSU Fullerton, CSULA, Cal Poly Pomona, and Hawaii Pacific U. The list is lackluster compared to many of you, but it's what I've got and I need to decide. I would need to dorm, especially in HPU. I'm having real trouble deciding, and I don't have any majors in mind... kinda wanted a liberal arts education, but it didn't happen. So maybe I'm thinking I'd at these schools I'd study economics or biology. Any advise? TIA

For my activities I'm interested in music, ice skating, and philosophy if that would affect my decision.

Hawaii--great location, not a real great school. Of your choices, I'd go with Fullerton. I think its one of the best cal states and you will be able to have a "real" college experience there. Good luck!

Go to Community College and once you figure it out, then transfer to a better school (top UC schools). First, it's cheaper and more cost effective. Second, none of those schools you listed will give you a "true college experience".

that would mean i would have to move out of where i currently am (complicated situation). maybe it's a good idea though.. still a possibility.
do you know anything about hpu mike? or maybe univ of san diego?

HPU is very weak academically as is CSULA. cal state fullerton appears to moving ahead more briskly than pomona and is better in the liberal arts. but the advice to look at the CC system is wise. get your grades up and then you'll have better options. your list is pretty soft right now.

Just an idea...Santa Barbara City College has a program where you can automatically transfer to UCSB. Also, they have off campus dorms that both city college and UCSB students use. I think you are even allowed to take certain classes for UC credit. You will have more of the college experience than the usual CC. And its in a great location!

For a liberal arts education, definitely try to transfer to a UC if you can. There's no reason to go to the schools you first mentioned for for a lib. arts education, unless you had to for housing and financial reasons. It's generally not one of the stronger points of the Cal State schools.

Cal POly isnt bad. It dosnt have much school spirit but its still good.
Community College is still an idea, however the CSU schools are better than the CC's.

thanks for the responses :) many of them echo "cc" to go to uc, but i'm not interested in ucs. i'm thinking i can to go the csus, then transfer to a LAC. going to a cc probably won't affect transferring to a LAC, at least not to my knowledge...unless anyone knows anything?
i've decided against hpu since it's not a good financial decision anyway.

community colleges have articulation agreements with many colleges and universities across the state. what these do go all the way from counting a certain course on one campus for another one to taking any student with a certain GPA into admit status. also, CCs are the biggest educational bargain on the planet. it allows you to stockpile some cash for a couple of years and still allows you to get a degree from a "name" university. it's a can't beat it deal.
