i think i remember reading somewhere that telebears does not check prereqs and you can enroll in courses w/o them on their website, but i’m sure they’d do something about not having prereqs, otherwise there would be no point of having them…perhaps it’ll affect your getting credit or a grade, or being force dropped soon into the course or something…

I know at UCSC the bureacracy is a pain in the ass about pre-reqs, basically you can’t sign up for classes that you havn’t met the pre-reqs for, but other UCs will let you sign up for classes without fulfilling the pre-reqs at your own risk.

Ya, I read the same thing

I think that you can enroll but you just wouldn’t get credit or something if you didn’t take the prereques. But i think you can take some classes without prereques with consent of the department of your major.

What if I complete the requirement after completing the course? Will I be given credits afterward?

if the course website or description says that they’ll check (like bio1a/L for chem 3a/l) then you can enroll but they’ll check and kick you out before your first discussion section. if it doesn’t i don’t think it’s a big deal…i’ve had friends sign up for mcb classes w/o prereqs (besides bcp) and not get kicked out.

best of luck!

anonymous, you mean the “course restrictions” on the enrollment information?
bc i’m interested in taking sociolinguistics (upper div linguistics course) but i don’t really want to take the whole linguistics 100 class (pre-req)
thank you
