So I know that a lot of upper div classes have prereq classes....but when we are signing up for the classes, how does telebears know that we have or have not taken the prereq classes? i mean, of course it would be in our best interest to take the prereq course...but I am taking a microecon class through the ias department but unfortunately that doesn't fulfill the prereq for the econ class i want to take in the future (even though it is similar to 100a without calculus)....so can't i technically just take the class i want to take without the professor knowing?

Telebears does NOT enforce pre-requisites.

If anyone does, it is the professor or the department. Mostly this happens when a course is in high demand, where enforcement helps open slots for other students waiting to get in.

Sometimes they are not enforced (other than possibly by lower grades if you truly needed the background, didn’t get up to speed in some other way, and thus had trouble in the class).
