I'm at a CA community college and was wondering if engineering students need to take a foreign language to transfer to Cal or UCLA. Also curious if a history or any other misc humanities classes of any kind is required. I know the IGETC generally is not necesarry but I wasnt' sure if these specific two schools still want a foreign language class anyway.

Also curious which classes make up the "Big 4" are and how important they are for these schools, and lastly I know this isn't the right section but I'm going to tack this on anway: Does anyone know what the requirements are for Cal Poly SLO for engineering concerning foreign language and the "Big 4".

Thanks for reading my thread.

Yes. Foreign language is required at the community college unless you’ve taken it in high school.

Berkeley College of Engineering does not have a foreign language graduation requirements (although you should check whether any is required for transfer admission). It does have a [url=http://coe.berkeley.edu/students/current-undergraduates/requirements/hss-humanities-current-list/HSS%20NEW%20REQ.pdf]humanities and social studies requirement/url. So if you have schedule space at CC, you can try to fulfill as much of it as you can before transfer.
