And what about for the FR points?

Guys, it's time to calm down. it seems only AB people cares how they did on the exam. Where are the BC people? :p

FOr the horizontal tangent in question 6 of the FRQ (the slope fields questions), do you just put dy/dx =0 and solve for y? Whch is..i remember y=2?
Anyways, FRQ was soooo hard. Let's all email ETS and ask them for the cutoff for 5 to be lower. lol.

Should I let the College Board know about the jackhammering irregularities during my test administration? I feel I got a high 4 and all I need is a 4 for credit. Should I bother? I'm just afraid they'll make the AB and BC kids @ my school retake it. But if I did have 2 weeks to study for it (before alternate testing), I could definitely do well! Any advice? Check out my previous post about the 4 hour drilling/jackhammering that went on during the test @ my school. It was awful!

It costs the school $10,000 per student for any procedures the instructor fails to do, so I would reccomend a no, especially since I highly doubt they'd have you retake.

Wait Crispie, where are you getting your facts?? That seems pretty random and contextual. Is that the policy at YOUR school? I think I have a right to be a little concerned considering I had to take the AP Calc test while some dudes were jackhammering away on the school roof RIGHT ABOVE the room we tested in!

lol, well i guess it depends how you would feel if your scores came and you got a 3. would you blame it on the jackhammering? would you feel jipped or ripped off? personally, I doubt CB would readmin the exam based on some noise, but they might take action. anyway, would you blame the jackhammering and solely the construction noise for a 3?

I personally wouldn't report it, especially if a.) i felt i did well and b.) i was already accepted to multiple Ivies, but thats just me :).

Does anyone know the scoring rubric for the Calculus exam? What percent/number correct is needed for a 5, 4, 3?

Well, in my case, I'm sure that with more concentration, I could have gotten more right. I DOUBT I'll get a 3. I'm pretty certain I got a very high 4, if not a low 5. All I need is a 4 to place into MATH 104 @ Princeton (which pretty much starts from the "C" part of BC calc and goes beyond). I think I'll keep quiet only b/c I have other APs to review for, and frankly (even if it DOES mean the opportunity to get a 5), it's just not worth the extra stress! I got into a few ivies w/o any of this year's APs... so it really doesn't matter all that much! W/e... I'll think this over I guess. Thanks for the input Ziggy. Anyone else have advice?

Prediction for my own performance, which is sub-par for CCers:

MC: 25/42 (didn't do 3)
FR: 30/54

Total Score: 55.2/104

Should be a low 4, but it could be anywhere from a high 2 to barely scrapping a 5. And yes, I was pretty much counting how many points I'd get on the free response since I was stuck with 10 minutes to go...though I took off about 8 points randomly because I do make mistakes. Didn't do that for MC tho.

I thought the MC was pretty easy, and I finished very quickly, but now I realize that i got a few wrong (3-5 probably). Calc FR was easy too, but I messed up on the no-calc FR somehow (I basically forgot all the calc I ever knew as I had to pee like a racehorse).

Can I get a 5 with 5 wrong total for MC, and 2/3 of the FR?

Haha flipsta, that's a hilarious simile :D

Towards the end of the test, I struck my pink test booklet like a construction worker on a jackhammer.

Haha, but the reason for my simile is that there was jackhammering going on through my ENTIRE test! It was ridiculous! Should I report it to College Board as an irregularity? What could the do about??

hey, does anybody else think that the BC multiple choice without calculator was really hard?? i skipped like 4 questions out of 28.... thank god for free response.

Does anyone know the scoring rubric for the Calculus exam? What percent/number correct is needed for a 5, 4, 3?

Surgeon, I'm afraid you're on the AB thread (and none of us know what the "C" questions on from BC were like).

There was a pretty big BC thread on CC. It might still be going on. Idk... Check that out. But if you wanted an AB student's input - the "B" questions on the MC weren't bad at all!

yes i would say that's top 21st percentile and a 5, but if the rest of the country's test-takers are like CCers, that could be much lower, but I doubt it. 4 or a 5.

SCORING RUBRIC FOR CALCULUS AB:

66-108....5
47-65......4
29-46......3
16-28......2
0-16........1

Multiple Choice: 54 points
Free Response: 54 points

Multiple Choice total correct - (.25 x wrong answers) = MC Net Score
Free Response: Each Question = 9 points. (9x6=54)

Multiple Choice Net Score x 1.2 + Free Response = 108 Total Points

I just know that when the post the ALTERNATE Calc AB's FRQs, and if they're easier, that I'll kick myself for not complaining and pushing to retake it. But is it worth the trouble?? Probably not right - evem if we did have to take the test while the construction workers jackhammered on the roof above us for the entire duration of the test. Btw, I repeat every so often for the CCers who are just visiting the thread for the first time, as I'd like their input as well. Sorry to sound repetitive. Again, any advice (as to wheter I should call about the testing irregularities or not), would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.....

Nocalc MC killed my brain, but calc MC was fine for me. The last part of two FR questions gave me some trouble. I hate it when you think that something's really obvious and then you feel like you might be tricked and therefore doubt what you wrote. As for the other, I have a nasty feeling I totally made up my answer out of really improbable/fake algebra...

when i forgot my social security #, i knew i was off to a bad start...
