Calc BC Summer Before??

Hi,
I’m taking AP Calc BC this next school year. Obviously, it has the reputation as being the hardest math class at my school. With the upcoming summer, is there anything people who have taken the course recommend looking over or practicing before school starts to make it a bit easier? I’ve head the first couple of chapters are rough for most kids, so I’m thinking of trying to go through those before school starts as well. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

My S(rising sophomore) is taking it over the summer and should be close to finished by August when school starts. If you are going to wait til school starts then yes it would be a good idea to go over some things ahead of time. Khan academy should be helpful and you can focus ahead of time on areas you consider yourself to be weak in.

You are probably better off asking this in the high school forum.

I took BC junior year. My school makes us take AB before BC so that’s probably the reason I thought BC wasn’t hard because its a lot of AB material…
Anyway, I recommend making sure you’re really strong with derivatives and your applications of derivatives. I don’t know what math class you took last year but generally just make sure you improve whatever you were struggling with in that class. What really kicked me in BC was actually basic math… (exponent rules…log rules…absolute values… polynomial division). ALL that stuff came back into play and I felt like I haven’t used that material in years.
Having a good base of mathematics is essential in BC. I also recommend Khan Academy and another favorite for extra practice is Kuta free calculus worksheets online.
