Calc II versus Calc I

What is the level of difficulty of Calc II as compared to Calc I? Does it get harder as you progress up the ranks?

Cal II does not build onto Cal I. It’s different.

The material get more advanced (obviously) but I wouldn’t say it the courses are harder in teaching method or expectations on examinations.

My son decided to start with calc 2 since he had ap credit for 1. So far so good… 97’s on both tests.

lots of kids opt to repeat cal I. most end up saying it was not necessary.

If you had a very strong AP Cal class, then you can skip Cal I. However, if your teacher was weak, it’s a good idea to retake.

Some AP Cal teachers are very good…if you had one and you did well on the exam, then feel fine about skipping.

But back to OP’s question…Since Cal II is different than Cal I, some kids LIKE Cal II better because they like the concepts that are introduced in Cal II.
