Hi guys, I got my ap scores back in the summer so I started changing my schedule around because of the math prerequisites. I changed my economics class and signed up for stats, but one class I am wavering over is calculus. When I first checked the course status, the only calc II class remaining was at 8:00 AM so I was like "no way" but about a week later a class opened up at 11:00 AM. I am currently signed up for that calc II class but I am worried it will be very difficult. Calculus took up a lot of my time in high school, probably 2-3x that of my other classes. I decided to sign up for calc II in the end because I figure that I am paying for my education and I should learn something new, lol. Also, I figured that since I only have 4 classes (not counting Cohort) I should probably be able to handle it (as opposed to 7 classes every day, like in high school). I also took AB so there's some stuff I haven't learned yet.

Here are my classes so far: Statistics and Forecasting Regression Models, Intro to Political and Economic Thought, Calculus II, and Microeconomics.

Also, is linear algebra a good alternative to fulfill my math requirement? And do your employers really care if you took calc II instead of calc I? If get a lower grade in calc II and therefore a lower GPA as a result, are they going to see that I took calc II and be more understanding?

Since sternies need only one semester of math (unless things are different for BPE) I would say just stick with Calc I or Calc II. I got a 5 on the BC exam and consider myself pretty good in math, but I’m only taking Calc I in the fall. My brother made a mistake in taking linear algebra and his GPA paid for it (he got a B- in that class).

@allure: thanks I’ll see you in pol/econ thought!

@sansri: thanks for your help. Man, I’m really wavering over it now. I just put “Calculus II” through the search engine, and the students say homework is collected every week and there is a lot about series, which AB doesn’t cover. I think I’m going to check if there’re any good classes left for Calculus I.

well i checked the syllabus for calc II and it starts with integrals, which is covered in calc AB. idk.

i was signed up originally for calc I but my advisor emailed me telling me i should take calc ii, so i decided to listen to her. i think it will be fine though.
