Calculating Weighted UC GPA

This has been driving me crazy, so I hope somebody can clear things up for me!

I got a D in Pre-Calculus 1 this Fall, but I took Pre-Calculus 1 again in the Spring and ended up with a B.

Does the first D in Pre-Calculus factor into my weighted UC GPA, or is the grade thrown out entirely and replaced by the B?

Even the counselors at my school have given me different answers as to how the UC admissions people deal with the repeated class grade, so my neurotic self has been fretting over it for a loonng time. Ever since I got that D, I’ve been freaking out about ruining my chances at getting into the top UC’s. (I have mostly A’s and a few B’s on my transcript - nothing lower than a B until that D!)

If it makes a different - I’m not planning on taking Pre-Calculus 2 because it’s only offered in the Spring at my school, and I don’t think I’ll be up to the challenge (I heard it was even worse than Pre-Calc 1!) in the second semester of my senior year! Instead, I’m going to take AP Stats senior year, so I’ll have 3.5 years of math total.

I would be extremely grateful if somebody can clear this up for me so I can relax a little. Thanks in advance!

Okay this is from my UC guide so I'll type it up for you.

"D and F grades: Any "a-g" courses in which you earn a D or F must be repeated with a grade of C or better. Only the second grade will be used in calculating your GPA. If you repeat a course in which you initially earned a grade of C, the second grade will not be used."

Ah! Thank you so much!! That definitely takes a load off my chest. :D
