Calculus AB and BC

I have a question about AP calculus AB and BC. My daughter is taking AP Calculus AB currently and then will take multi variable calculus next year. She will take AB AP exam this year. Should she also take the BC AP exam next year to get college credit? Colleges give less credit or sometimes no credit for AP Calculus AB. Anyone has faced this issue?

Most colleges give one semester of credit for AB and two semesters of credit for BC. Thus, taking the BC exam will be better for earning college credit, especially after taking multivariable calculus.

Thanks a lot

Is multivariable calculus a high school class or a college class? What is the prerequisite? AP Calculus AB doesn’t cover Calculus II material, so it’s not usually possible to take multivariable calculus right after AP Calculus AB. If she knows both Calculus I and II, she should take the BC exam.

It’s offered in her high school. I guess she will have to self learn the BC material. Her school allows to skip the BC course for some kids above the cutoff grade.

She would have to take either AB or BC, the college board doesn’t let you take both in one year
