I took Calculus and Pre-Calculus in high school and I killed it, but I am still unsure whether I should go straight to Calculus in college or go back a step and take Pre-Calculus. I took the math placement test and I tested into Calculus, but only by one point. I've also heard college level Pre-Calculus and Calculus is much harder than high school level. Then I don't want to waste time because I won't get math credit in college for taking Pre-Calculus. Help!

You can also try the old final exams of the courses in question at your college to check your knowledge from the college’s point of view.

I’d take calculus if you can handle it. You’ve already mastered the material in the precalc and calc courses and I would only take precalc again if you think you need some extra review anyway. Many people take precalc that never have taken calc before or have scratched the surface of precalc. You may find that it is slightly more difficult, but it will be worth the time to take calculus. Don’t take the placement tests too seriously as it is just one test to measure your entire math career. Since you already took calculus, I imagine some of the course is going to be review anyway.

If you have already taken pre-calc and calc and done well at both, you would probably bored taking pre-calc again as well. I would go ahead and take calc.
