For sophomore transfers, NYU Stern requires us to take a Calc class (AP Credit does not count) and it needs to be completed when applying.

I already made my schedule and Calc is not in my 1st semester schedule. Do you think it would make a huge difference if I complete it 2nd Semester?

If they require two parts of calc (like a sequence of calc A and calc B) then it would be good to finish them, but if not, it will be fine. Even if you take calc second semester, colleges will still see that you took it on your transcript, and you can send in a mid-term report to show that you’re doing well. Also you’re a sophomore transfer, so as long as you’re on track to finish the requirements with the rest of the class. For example, I know that Whatton has specific requirements that junior transfers must have completed before they can be considered, like Econ, Calc, etc, whereas sophomore transfers only have to have taken some courses that are transferable - it’s because the extra year adds some flexibility. So as long as you’re taking some transferable business classes, you should be good.

Edit: I just looked up Stern’s transfer requirements for sophomore, and you only need to take one semester of Econ, one of calc, and one of writing. So jus be sure to get those courses completed.

If it needs to be completed when applying, I’d take it now. They probably want the final grade as part of the admission decision.

They’re also likely to conclude that an applicant who can’t follow instructions would become a student who can’t follow instructions. In other words, a headache. Why should a very competitive program invite headaches?

thank you for the reply!
