My son took AP Calc AB and BC (needed to take both in order to take BC). He wants to take the next level Calc at the university (not community). Would the next level be Calc 3?? He said Cal AB and BC is actually 1 &2. I just wanted clarification before he enrolls in Calc 3 for his senior year in hs.

It depends on the college. For example, at Georgia Tech, he would enroll in Calc 2. But I know that at other colleges it would be Calc 3. You need to check with the specific college.

AB is the first semester and BC is the second semester..... so yeah. I've heard of people taking other math courses though (e.g. Stats, Discrete Math, Advanced Geometry (which could require more calc, I'm not sure), etc.)

Yeah, Maea is right. You pretty much have to check with the college, but that's generally what I've heard about the test. At my local university, that's what it is. :P

In our experience the college will want a math placement test anyway to determine which class he should go into. Also an adviser in the math dept. could easily tell him which would be the next step after the calculus he's already taken.
