Calculus

If I'm going to be receiving AP credit for MAC2311 and MAC2233 is required for my major (I plan to double major in Political Science and Economics), do I have to take it?

I was under the impression that MAC2311 is a more advanced course than MAC2233. I really, really don't want to have to redo Calculus like that.

Also, if I do have to take MAC2233, is there anyway to place out of it by taking the Calculus Readiness test?

Thanks so much for your responses!

From what I've seen, MAC2311 can substitute for MAC2233, meaning you won't need to take it if you don't want to.

Yeah, technically 2311 (engineering/science) is harder than 2233 (business) because 2233 is taught without trig functions (from what I hear). So it shouldnt be a problem to sub 2311 for 2233 and then take 2234 to finish the requirement.

If you are in a math-heavy major, consider backing up one calc level. I.e., if you could go straight into calc 3, consider calc 2 instead. Both my sons who are very strong in math (AP calc BC - 5, SAT math 750+) would have been better off retaking calc 2, getting a great grade, and then going into calc 3 and diffy q's with a really strong foundation.

If calc is the last math class you'll ever take, the situation may be different.

YMMV

Thanks for the responses.

STA2023 and MAC2233 are the only two math classes required for my majors... I plan to take other stats classes at UF, but would love to be done with Calculus entirely, so getting the credit would be best, I think, rather than retaking them.
