hey guys
due to scheduling conflicts i dropped math for my senior year
i have already taken 4 years of math, doubling up my sophmore year
i want to be a biology major/secondary education major
will not taking calc senior affect my chances of getting in school like uconn or rutgers?
i'm mainly applying to state school
thanks for any help!

I think it would look better to have a math course in your senior year. And even if you are not going to be engineering/math major, you will still most likely have to be required to take a few semesters of calculus, so taking it would be a good idea.

thanks
unfortunately i have to choose between calculus and AP bio
it’s such a hard choice

Is there a way you can take one of them at a community college either this summer or during the school year? That way you get math senior year but don’t miss out on AP bio.

Also see whether your high school subscribes to Virtual High School or some other distance learning consortium. Another possibility is taking Calc online through something like EPGY.

Not taking calculus will in no way hurt you for UConn. They definitely would like four years of math in high school, but more than half of the kids I know who are going to UConn (which is like half of the college bound kids in my class) are only in pre-calc this year. So as long as you’ve had 4 years and have gone as high as pre-calc then you should be fine for UConn and most likely any other state schools that are on the same level as UConn.

I agree with Balaylay, not taking a math class at your senior year will not hurt your chance to get into good colleges as long as your fulfill all requirements, and did well in those classes. You want to take class that would really help you in college for your major. In this case, go with AP Bio

thank you guys so much
i really appreciate it
