I'm an out of state student (Arkansas) with a 3.8 uw, around 50/650 rank, and I'm going to take standardized tests (ACT, SAT II in physics and Math II, and SAT I) before this summer. EC wise I've got around 300 plus hours of debate, 200 plus hours of ROTC, and Beta Club, Student Congress, 5 weeks of summer college camps under my belt before this summer. I'm a junior, Assuming I do well on these standardized tests, what are some colleges in this state I'd be in the match range for?

bump . . . any opinions?

all UC's: IN

LA, BC, and maybe SD which would be reach.

also, what major? it really depends on your interest..

Cal Poly would be a great option

anndd also, CSU's have 23 different campuses...check those out

USC and Standford would be reach....but not out of the question if you have 2000+ SAT I scores and 700+ SAT II's

Murasaki:

UCB/UCLA: Reach (out of state)
UCSD: Slight Reach (out of state)
UCI/UCSB/UCD: Match (out of state)
UCSC/UCR/UCM: Safe Match (out of state)

Thanks, and to thebrown I want to do engineering.

I have a sort of wobbly trend going on, a slight decrease, then from there to a sharp increase in grades. Can I assume my 9th grade year in my gpa calculation?

No, for the UC's and CSU's they don't account for it. so you're in pretty good shape. Don't listen to others when you get to CA though, BC and LA are considered IMPOSSIBLE to get into...they are just as hard as any other out of state universities and rather overated...GREAT schools...but overrated. I know for electrical engin. Cal poly would be your best choice...[in my opinon]
