Hi all...

Had a question and thought board members could play some help as a mock CA University Administrator...

I am an older student, independent, over 24 and moved to California in May of 2009 and lived and worked there...paid taxes etc.

Now b/c of a quick opportunity, I am living in IL from Sep 2010 to May 2011. and decided to take some classes towards degree at a private school while here. I applied there as a CA resident.

I will be back in California next June 2011. I want to take some courses then in state tuition
towards finally completing degree at one of the Cal State's. I still have permanent residency in CA, drivers license, mailing address, voting. I will also file taxes there.

I work freelance from home for income currently and do not plan on establishing IL residency. I do web development and freelance journalism so has taken me around quite around and took me awhile to complete up my degree somewhere.

Would my departure and taking classes in IL trump that CA residency?

What should I do? Will I have to wait again once I get back in California? Should I not take classes while I am here? I am considering dropping the 2 I am enrolled in if it is going to mean I will have to wait once again for in state tuition there once I get back!

Help!!!
