Hi everyone! I recently was accepted to San Diego State University for the Fall 2016 term, and I am super excited! I am, however, curious as to when the other Cal State schools will release their decisions.
I’ve applied to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, California State University Long Beach, and California State University Channel Islands.
I’ve heard that Cal Poly and CSULB being sending admissions in February, can anyone confirm this? And has anyone heard back from Channel Islands yet?
Fullerton started sending out admissions decisions in early Dec.
Long Beach will be February, per their application status e-mails.
Not sure when Northridge will be. Anyone know? Whenever we check it just says what’s been sent in, etc.
Oops - almost forgot SJSU. Will be updating the application status by early January to say either “Decision Pending” or “Incomplete with To Do’s”. People should check their status daily at this point. Decisions will be in late Feb. I believe.
@LKnomad Okay, so you would assume that all acceptances would be released by then if they are sending out invitations for the presidential scholarships in February. Do you know if I would be eligible to compete for the presidential scholarship since I am out-of-state (given that I am invited to apply)?
Majority of Cal State decisions will be throughout February. SLO starts around Mid-Feb and rejections are posted early March. CSULB is early February through out the month.
@collegegirly2016 if you look at the list of past Presidental scholarship grads you will see that it seems to be entirely California high school grads. You will also notice (if you knew the high school names) that many are actually from the city of Long Beach. What many people don’t know is that CSULB has an agreement with LBUSD and Long Beach City College called the Long Beach Promise. This gives priority admission to LBUSD (and a few other school district) students. Students only have to have minimal requirement to be guarenteed admission to CSULB. (They also are offered a year at LBCC tuition free.) This means admission rates are a bit misleading since LBUSD, last I looked, has about an 80% admission rate. This means that non LBUSD schools have a much lower than publicised admission rate.
This year there have been changed made to the presidential scholarship. When they came to my son’s (LBUSD)school to talk about it, they said that those changes are still unknown. In the past you had to be either valedictorian or NMSF in order to apply. This year you must be invited. So we really don’t know what is going on. But I would guess that LBUSD students may be favored. We shall have to see.
@LKnomad Oh okay, that makes sense. In my home state of Washington, I was given the partial Regent’s scholarship to Washington State University because I was a high performing Washington State resident. Thank you for letting me know this information! No one really knows anything about the California school system in my home town so any advice or tips are greatly appreciated.
@LKnomad I did check out some of the WUE schools! I think it’s an amazing program! I applied to CSU Channel Islands, and also was accepted to the University of Hawaii on WUE rate tuition (not in California, but still a WUE).
Term Applying for Transfer: Fall 2016
Community college gpa: 2.94
Major applied: Chemical Engineering
Status: Decision Pending
Courses Completion: After the Spring 2016, all classes will be complected except Physics 4B
Supplement Form: Completed
Schools I applied to: CPP, Cal Poly SLO, CSULB, SJSU, EASTBAY and SF State
I only applied to two schools Cal Poly Pomona (rejected) and Cal State Northridge (accepted). I knew I was going to get into CSUN even though my high school graduate gpa was not so great (2.89/99 ish) because they have this list that shows what SAT score they expect you to get based on your GPA if your GPA is lower than a 3.0. I think I got around 1430 maybe higher idk, but apparently it was much higher than the expected score. There was that, and because my high school and CSUN are close, so they let a lot of people in from my highschool and near their area in.
