California State University

Hello i'm a community college student that finished his associates degree in Math & Science, specifically Computer Science. I live in New Jersey but would like to move to California and so i was thinking about the California State University schools. Specifically i was looking at California State Fullerton and California State Polytechnic University Pomona. My GPA is only 2.5 so i don't know if it's within my reach or not. Based on collegeboard.com the GPA admittance rate gives me hope but you never know.

It is extremely unlikely that you would be accepted at CAL Poly Pomona with a 2.5 GPA, you would probably need a 3.0 or better. The minimum GPA required for acceptance at a California State University (CSU) is 2.0 but I believe CSU Fullerton is an impacted campus. Since you are not applying from the CSUF service area you would be required to have a higher GPA for acceptance and with the record number or applicants to CSUs this year and enrollment reductions due to budget cuts it is unlikely that a 2.5 GPA will be competitive for out of service area applicants to CSUF.

Are you sure you would want to pay $30K/yr for these schools anyway? They are very overcrowded and underfunded now.
