I recently called the admissions office to inquire as to whether or not it is necessary to rush January SAT scores. The admissions officer I talked to (not my specific one, just the general admissions officer) looked up my name and i assume checked my SAT scores I already submitted (CR-720, M-710, W-740) and then said “don’t worry about it.” Does anyone know if American needs January SAT scores to be rushed, my January scores improved to 740, 740, 770 respectively. I know that my initial scores are fine, but since I improved I would like to be able to have them see that, especially since I hear merit scholarships often give a lot of weight to SAT scores (if i get in that is.) Thanks for any info

Sounds like the adcom could have used a bit more explanation (like what you just told us) but if you really really want them to have the scores, I think the general consensus is that rushing is uneccessary. From what I have gathered, the CollegeBoard sends online updates (followed by a paper confirmation copy) but if it appears online, the school will see that relatively quickly whether you rush or not. I know many of my schools simply said no to rushing altogether. Then again, this is just my input- you could try sending an email explaining to them in more detail.

stu64k~ congrats on your scores...all of them. you might feel better if you send Jan.'s just to be sure, especially if thinking about scholarship.

call a specific admissions officer, don't just talk to the general representatives, because from my experience they sometimes have no idea what they're talking about, and they always just say "don't worry about it".

ya, I'd consider sending them in based on scholarships. I think she said don't worry because she thought you were just concerned about getting in, which you will for sure!!

thanks a lot for the information everyone
