Calling all 2013/2014 Common App People!

HEY Y'ALL!
So about this Common App.
I got some ideas, but I'm not sure they're particularly creative. I mean, is it just me, or are the prompts kind of constraining? No longer can we analyze the importance of the pickle and apply it to the concept of life and the universe. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but it is a big change from the abstract, profound essays of past years.
Let's discuss and get those brains working!

lul I agree with haha. A lot of my friends from the Class of 2013 wrote their essays on absurd topics like pudding or chewing gum…

I know right?! And know that’s kinda impossible (or at least difficult) for us to do without sounding awkward.

AGREED. So wish they didn’t take away topic of choice; however, it is possible (although difficult) with these topics, you just have to think outside the box.

Do you guys have any ideas yet?
I was thinking I would write about, for the background, choosing to go to a less “prestigious” high school.

The first prompt is really broad and if you want to talk about pickles, then you could always apply to UChicago.

LOL that is so true (lol at their apples and oranges prompt)

Haha I’m actually applying. I think this levels the playing field a bit, though. The less “intellectual” people won’t be at a disadvantage. Now it’s purely based on writing skill/ how you express yourself.

The first prompt is a your own topic prompt in disguise for the creative. My essay is prompt one and about fantasy football. In a small perceptive anything can be central to ones life
