Do you plan on going to field school anytime soon? I've been itchin' to go somewhere amazing, so I'm going to put aside a few savings so I can afford to go off to expeditions in Europe, Africa, or Asia. I saw an amazing ad to go fresco hunting in Macedonia and I really want to go to Thailand or Indonesia right now. I'm hoping to go on a few during breaks or next summer.

What about you guys? Any dreams? :3

I became an Anthropology major because it allows me to study everything I love all at once (I am a huge social science guy, and I get to dabble in hard science and Archaeology)

My dream is to spend my entire life traveling and teaching.

Oh definitely! I plan on maybe teaching English in eastern Asia so I can travel around in that part of the world. My family lives in Europe, so I’ll always have the opportunity to live/travel around over there.

I lived a few miles from Prague and I never went. Biggest regret of my life! I hope to live in Croatia or Czech Rep. for a few years.

Mmm, I love anthropology for the same reason as BerkeleyOrBust: it’s so diverse. I have so many plans on what to do with it, and I want to add an element of history of science if I can double major.

Right now I’m planning on doing service abroad in the Peace Corps. Ideally, I’d be able to teach English in China so I can improve my own cultural skills.

Career-wise, I have vague notions of moving abroad and doing research in Italy, China, and Australia. There are just so many interesting places and subjects out there!

I’m jealous that you have family in Europe you can visit. :D

^^It’s OK until they keep bugging you to visit. Plane tickets are expensive, but cheap in the winter and it’s freezing there. I was going to live with a friend in Germany for summer (I just have to buy my own food), but I decided against it. I think you can get round-trip tickets in the winter for $700-900. In the summer it’s doubled.

You know, you can find ways to live in Europe. They have language schools and some of them come with accommodation. I think maybe it depends on the country? I’m mostly just interested in Croatia, Austria, Luxembourg, Scandinavia (I got into a Uni there, but decided against it… I did a huge research paper on the Sami people–I really do love Scandinavian culture and folklore).

I think I’m more interested in Russian or Scandinavian cultures right now (I have always been). Would love to work in Iceland for a year!
