Calling all EE Applicants :0)

Congrats to you all! As a potential applicant, I'm really interested in stats... anybody willing to post? It would be greatly appreciated :)

i had a "likely", but haven't got any letter about spring open campus.
is that letter sent by mail or is there a difference between the "likely" letters?

Heh, since I'm the unlikely, I'll post my stats...

2080 on the SAT (750 V, 700 W, 630 M). My ACT composite escapes me at the moment, but I do remember the breakdown as being something like 36 on two sections and as low as 25 on the math section (science may have been 29?). My GPA is an unweighted 3.67, and for the past four years I've had As in everything but math, in which I've had a C-. I'm thinking the math grades did it; they really are abysmal and every time I've discussed them with Wellesley they've gently informed me that they love math and science girls. Not much room for us humanities ladies. :</p>

Anyways, congrats to all the likelies, and there's still hope for ya, possiblies! Wellesley's a great school, I'm sure you all will love it there. :)

I was staying in a warming hut in the middle of woods yesterday, so I didn't get home / to internet access until just now...but I got a likely!

I'm so stoked. :] Congrats to everyone else--are you all planning on going to the Open House shindig? I know I am!

I got a likely :)
Does anyone know if, well, we can get rejected now?!
[Btw I'm from India]

I would actually love to know the answer to that. When I told my friend at Wellesley I got a likely, she said it essentially meant that I was accepted they just couldn't officially say it yet (but she's just a student, and the only people she would've known who did EE would've been accepted, so not exactly a true sampling of the population). But we WERE invited to the Spring Open Campus in April, which would be after we were officially accepted/rejected. They wouldn't invite us to that and then reject us...would they? But I'd still love to know percents, just to know. :]

ajlangs, absolutely I'm going to try to go to Open Campus! It kind of depends, though...I haven't heard back from any other schools and I don't know how good my financial aid will be anywhere, so that might narrow down my choices of where I can even consider. But as far as I'm concerned, I LOVE Wellesley (it's one of my top choices), so hopefully Open Campus will work out. I live like 45 min away from campus, anyway, so transportation at least isn't too much of an issue. :)

For elainen8, here's the brief version of my stats (even though it seems really premature to post this--I haven't really gotten in to Wellesley yet, just the likely letter--I bet I'm jinxing myself):

I go to a good public school in Worcester County, MA. No one else applied to Wellesley from my class, but last year there was one girl who was accepted ED.

GPA: 98.11 UW (up to Junior year. I don't know what it looks like with Senior year grades in it, but it's definitely still a 4. -something)
Class Rank: 1/183 (as of end of Junior year...don't think it's changed much, either)

SAT I: 2130 (CR 720, M 670, W 740) one sitting
SAT II: World History 710, Math I 690, Lit 740, US History 800
APs: Taken Language and Comp (5) and US History (5); currently taking AP Physics B, AP Calculus, and AP Literature
National Merit Commended Student

Extracurriculars: heavy involvement in music (private violin lessons for many years, high school youth orchestra principal violinist, sing soprano in school chorus, leader of a cappella group, church choir, MACDA Honor Choir/choral festival). This is my second year as Managing editor of the school newspaper. Other clubs: National Honor Society (a lot of service as a tutor), Amnesty International, Friends of Seniors, church youth group.

Other stuff--I'm pretty sure my recs were really good (from my two AP teachers last year). I think my essay was interesting, and my interview at Wellesley (on-campus) went well.

Hope that helps! I'm still sooooo excited. Wellesley!

I got a likely & yes I don't hope I'm jinxing myself either lol -

I go to a public school in MA, which sends some students to top schools (but i think the majority of us go to college)

rank: top 5% out of around 500 i believe
gpa: 4.3 W, 3.76 UW (i think, tbh i dont know exactly)

SAT I: 2060 (690 CR, 640 M, 730 W)
SAT II: 700 US History, 640 Eng Lit, 640 Bio M
APs: AP US History (soph & jr yrs, our school divides it out), AP Eng Lang (jr yr), AP BC Calc, AP Eng Lit, AP Psych (sr yr) - got a 5 on the history, 4 on english

Extracurriculars:
Student Gov't (all 4 yrs)
President of Student Gov't (jr & sr yrs)
NHS (jr & sr yrs)
Model UN (sr yr)
Over 100 hours of community service (all 4 yrs)

Work: babysitter, counselor at a nursery camp, and as of last summer - presently I work at an assisted living home as a waiter.

I think my recs were pretty good, I'm a mostly A & a few B's student, and I did have an interview on campus =)

yay wellesley!!! =D

I'm a possible. My stats:

APs: AP US History, AP Calc AB, AP Calc BC, AP Microecon, AP PIG, AP English Language, AP English Literature, AP Statistics, AP Biology

I'm pretty devastated but I guess they didn't like my essays or my SAT IIs?

^ Wow, you look like an excellent applicant. :/ I'm sorry! But hey, you're probably in that 25% of "possible"s who gets in. :D

I'd say that likely is like an acceptance in that it would take about the same things to get rejected as it would take someone to get rescinded from an EA school. I.e., if we don't fail multiple classes or get straight Cs, we're okay. (I don't have any official source for this info, but it's the impression I get.)

DEFINITELY planning on attending the open house. I visited once before in the winter and the campus is amazingly beautiful... and I can't wait to meet other girls! It's definitely high on my list, although I love all my schools so I dunno exactly where it falls.

Stats for me:

Public school in Maryland; pretty competitive, I'd say (we send one or two students to Ivies/equivalents per year & others to top 20ish schools).

GPA: 4.0 UW; 4.81 W (rank 2)
SAT: 2390 (790 in Writing)
SAT subj tests: Math IIC 720->750; French 590->720; Literature 780; Physics 720; Chem 690 >__>
APs: Six so far; four 5s and two 4s; taking six more this year

ECs: Nothing exceptional... co-president of Art Club; secretary/treasurer of Information Technology Academy (I do programming & stuff); various other math/science clubs and service clubs (four NHSs lolz). Also, because of a county Intern/Mentorship Program (blah blah blah overprivileged), I have an internship this school year with a professor in the Cognitive Science department at Johns Hopkins, which I love!

Didn't interview 'cuz I was too dumb to pay attention to the deadline. :O

@tientien - Hey, look on the bright side: you could've been an unlikely! I'm still going to send them some additional stuff either way, though. Can't hurt to try. ;)

Gl, squaregirl! You seem like an awesome/qualified applicant... even if Wellesley doesn't change their mind, I'm sure you'll have great places to choose from!

kkkkkkkkkk

@Poseur - Aw, thanks! :) I'm trying not to let it get me too down; if anything I'm glad I got a heads-up so I can look for the loose ends in my application and try and remedy them.

Am I the only scientist around? I'm a likely.

Location: TX
School Type: Suburban public
Rank: 39 / 603 (yikes)

SAT I: 2310 (800 R, 770 M, 740 W)
SAT II: 770 Physics, 710 Math (again, yikes)

AP scores: Physics B (5), Environmental Science (5), Calculus BC (5), Biology (5), Computer Science A (5), World History (5), English Literature (5), Microeconomics (5), U.S. Government (5), Art History (5), U.S. History (5), Chemistry (this year), English Language (this year)
College classes: calculus-based electricity and magnetism, differential equations & linear algebra, special topics in physics, advanced mechanics

ECs: I do high energy physics research, which takes up a great deal of my time. I also volunteer for QuarkNet, a physics outreach program by Fermilab. I've done Odyssey of the Mind for more years than I want to think about - I've competed - two-time World Finalist - judged, and coached. My robotics team won state, and I did computer science competitions for three years.

Other: I have had major health issues, and missed the majority of my first two years of high school.

congrats to everyone who received a likely EE !! :D i'm an EDer.. i hope to meet some of you guys this upcoming fall ;) i would attend spring open house, but i live on the other side of the country and transportation expenses-wise, i probably wont go. it's weird, i wont have visited or even set foot on campus until the first day of school.

and for those who didnt receive likely...i urge you not to give up. send additional material, a letter--anything that you think would help your situation.
squaregirl, i dont think the wellesley has an inclination toward one area or another, although as a womens-only institution they probably do have to have some of those math and science brains. i was accepted, even though my math grades were also dismal. so, yes, send more stuff, and keep your positive outlook. :)

again, congrats everyone!!! wellesley is such a tremendous realization for the next four years of our liveeees. :D

got a likely! yay!

I'm just assuming its an acceptance in everything but the name, so i'm popping open the champagne.

Likely :) I'm so happy... but since it isn't a sure thing I'm still going to be a little anxious til the actual decisions come out.

Likely for me! Such a relief and definitely the highlight of my week.

congrats, everyone!! I am another EDer, so I know how happy you all must be^^
Hope I can see you in the fall!!
