How is this different from ED? I can definitely make the deadline (January 1st) as I am finishing my college apps tomorrow (yay!) I just didn't know what Early Evaluation meant...it is binding? If not, I think it would be nice to find out about application status sooner than Regular Decision if possible. Still, 2 weeks doesn't seem to be that big of a difference to me...but maybe it's so applications are staggered?

EE isnt binding. theyll send you a letter sometime before april 1 (not sure on when, sorry) that gives you a likelihood of your acceptance. not a sure acceptance/waitlist/rejection thing.

So if I've got my materials together soon, it wouldn't hurt to do Early Evaluation right? What's the difference? I don't understand why wouldn't people want to do Early Evaluation? Is it because of the 2 week deadline difference?

no problem! if you have all your materials together by new years i would definitely submit it! It wouldn't hurt to submit it two weeks earlier and find out a near decision two months earlier.

I should seriously check this board more often, because the EE deadline was today. Coquettish, you were absolutely right. There is no real reason not to do EE. (except you get two nos if you don't get in)

Anyway, message to 2011ers: APPLY EE, not RD.

It does not affect your early programs, nor is it one, really.
All the other colleges have deadlines around New Year's anyway.
The letter in February is rather welcome. It is not official, nor a decision.
If you get a likely, Wellesley sends you goodies in March.

i applied RD because i applied somewhere else SCEA. should i change my app to EE? also, which EE (isn't there an EE 1 and an EE 2? ... i could be wrong). i submitted my app in november so i definitely met deadlines for EE...

I know! I'm really nervous. I wish Wellesley would just give us an official decision so we could at least KNOW we were in somewhere. Have any of you guys been able to get an interview? I went on the website, and it said the deadline for requesting alumni interviews had already passed! :-(

Iirc, they sent it out around the second or third week of February. Look at it this way...it saves something like six weeks compared to everything else that's non-ED/EA.

I just got a letter from Wellesley explaining the Early Evaluation process. If you get a "likely" letter, you will most likely get in (about 100% admittance.) Wellesley wrote that students who receive likely letters are the academic creme de la creme of their applicant pool and would get in no matter what deadline she opted for (i.e. Early Decision, Early Evaluation, Regular Decision). Individuals that receive "possible" letters have a ~25% chance of getting in. "Unlikely" letters, unfortunately, signify "rejections" in April. Hope that helps!
