Calling all of you pro act studiers

Ok so I'm a junior and took the ACT for the first time in September. I got a 26 composite (27-english 28-math 24- reading 23-science). I want to boost my score to at least a 28, but of course anything higher wouldn't hurt. I'm ready to do some hardcore studying. I'm 100% positive that my english can raise to the 30's. It's happened twice on practice tests, I don't kno what happen 2 weeks ago. And I know my math can go up to 30's if i better understand the concepts and how to work the hard problems. I don't know how to study for reading and science...... i don't even want to think about the science. There's no hope. I have the Red Book, Princeton Review Cracking the ACt, and Princeton Review 1296 ACT questions. Is it possible for me to get a 28 on the February or April ACT? How did you guys study?

well, i’m definitely not a pro-studier, but i’ll try to help? haha.

you have a great shot at raising your score to a 28 in the amount of time you have. you’ve got a good 5-7 months to study and become familiar with the sections. for english and math, it’s just about practice i guess. it’s fairly easy to score really high on english if you just become familiar with the question types and the format of the correct answers, because they’re practically always the same on every test. as for science…um…i can’t really give you much advice, because my score is low in that section, haha. i’ve been trying to improve it also, but that hasn’t been working out for me. it seems like you have all the right books in hand; from looking around CC, everyone recommends the PR books and says the Red Book is a must.

i personally paid for online lessons from Kaplan, and it really helped a lot, especially with reading. my composite went up 4 points, and my reading went up 6. i didn’t have enough time to finish all the practice tests the online course gave me, but i feel like my score would’ve gone up a point or two more if i’d finished everything. maybe you don’t necessarily have to pay for lessons, but if there’s a Kaplan study guide for reading specifically, i think it would help.
