Calling Campaign 2015

2200 sat
800,780,730 subject tests
4.4 gpa non impacted major and no call… Any chance I’ll still get one?

i was called today at an 858 number! @ferdinand32 and it was the admissions office

@axelander‌ thanks for answering! It’s just because I got a missed call around 6:30pm from an unknown number, and I’m hoping it was ucsd haha

@potatoman1010‌ that happened to me yesterday too, around 5:40! I hope it is them, and if so, I hope they call back today haha

I got a missed call around 5:30…crossing my fingers!

have any non URM applicants been contacted?

I didn’t get a call back today :confused: Guess it wasn’t them…

@Curlyllama Yes. See post #41

There is a designated thread for discussing the pros and cons of affirmative action. This is not that thread. I just deleted a thread that was definitely moving in that direction is why I am saying this.

Got a call on Thursday around 6:20 State: California
Major: Public Health
Ethnicity: Hispanic
SAT: 1540
UC GPA:4.2
Unweighted GPA: 3.7

so #19 and #25 are not talking about that @fallenchemist ?

@CPCali‌

Well, #19 is

so I would have to say no, that no rational person would say that is talking about affirmative action, unless you are claiming affirmative action applies to people that think they might be asking dumb questions. I assume you actually meant #20

which, along with #25

are simply asking factual questions and not engaging debate on the topic of affirmative action in any way. I am baffled as to how you think they are. Your post, on the other hand, was clearly, and I do mean clearly, designed to debate the issue of affirmative action in general. There is a big difference between that and discussing the intent of the e-mail from UCSD, and an even bigger difference between what you posted and these benign questions.

Now let’s not continue to take this thread off topic.

Those of you that got a phone call, does it also say were accepted on the portal?

I got a called yesterday from admissions stating that I was accepted. Pretty cool for UCSD to call-in early.

Hi … is it 30% of admit per major or entire UCSD ? My son didnt get a call last week. Instate asian, competitive privete school in Bay area, 4.2 WGPA capped, uncapped WGPA is 4.4, 2310 SAT (770x3), Math2 800, Chem 800, Phy 790. AP Calc AB and BC - 5, USH - 5, a few more APs, all 5 (except EuroH). He applied to Elect Engineering. I will be surprised if he is not in top 30% of applicants. I am just afraid to speculate the decision now.

@mwahal‌ last week calls were made for minority students. This week, other students should hear about acceptances.

mwahal, as noted in the link at #74:

“The Early Calling Campaign is the first of the series and will take place March 3-8, 2015. Faculty and staff are asked to call historically underrepresented students who have been admitted to your department, program or college.”

From the same press release

“including Regents Scholars, Chancellor’s Associate Scholars, historically underrepresented students, and the top 30% of admits based on their academic profile.”

@mwahal - if UCSD had called any non-urm regents scholars we would have seen those reports on CC.

@eth0up - oh ! i was under the impression they have called the top 30% also
