Please, I'm not posting to discourage anyone... you might still be the other one! :)

That's not really possible... I'm sure at least ~40-50 people apply every year...

There was only one that got in from my country... and he's not even a citizen here. HRM!

yeah i know.. when i called. the lady is just like, let me guess, the call is for MIT right?

um, I can try...

Could have, Would have and Should Have

As an international applicant to MIT (RD) I believe that no matter what decision we receive, we should keep our head held high. Acceptance or rejection, DHL or envelope whatever the content is there will be one lesson common in both the decisions and that is the learning experience on differences between controllable and non-controllable.

As 17-18 year old schoolkids, we can control how much we study, we can control the typos on our essays, we can control the ECs that we participate in, and we can control a lot of stuff that goes in the application. BUT, what we cannot control is the # of internationals that MIT accept, we cannot control if the admission officer was more impressed by somebody else, we cannot control what the other applicants submitted, and finally we cannot control the final outcome.

At the end of the day if nothing else, what I will have is that I will never look back and say that I could have, would have and should have applied to MIT, because dammit - I surely did and I am glad about it...

Good luck guys...keep rockin...

JeanLeloup,

here is what i did, i didn't get a friend from USA to call.. i just called any DHL USA number from this link
http://www.dhl-usa.com/custserv/contactus.asp?nav=CustomerService/ContactUs
then tell them that you can't call DHL usa 1800 number b/c it just transfer you to a Canadian number and ask the guy to transfer for you..

gl

@hash: which college will you be at? I think I am gonna meet you there next year :) Balliol over here :)

REJECTED.

Wow. This... sucks.

hey wwff, i feel for you.. i know it sucks.. and no matter what ppl say, it won't change the fact that we didn't get in.. but the only think i can say is that don't see the rejection as a sign that the MIT people think you're not competent enough in academics or just in life... maybe we're just not the kind of ppl they're looking for this year.. maybe they wanted more musicians or actors, maybe more swimmers or hockey players, maybe people who invented things on their own and became famous.. whatever the case may be, a rejection from MIT is not a sign that we're inferior to the people who got accepted...

hehe I called them and they didn't have anything for me:P SO I hope they sent it by regular mail (living in NJ) :D

Thanks Princetonwannabe... : ( I'm an international, and I'm just really dejected that all that work I've done (and I'm sure you've also done) amounted to not much in MIT's eyes...

Hey Princetonwannabe,

What number did you call on that list? They say they are closed for weekends..

yeah, i did my MIT application before i even even started on my princeton one.. i had my MIT interview in septemeber....

i believe i called this number

1-800-345-7775

ANY number is fine
just tell them to transfer you to the 1800 number

Well thanks everyone for your help. There are 9 shipments coming to Canada from MIT but I am not one of them. It is unfortunate but now I am hoping the best for Princeton. Best of luck everyone!
