I got a letter with the name and number of my alumni interviewer, with instructions to call my interviewer to schedule an interview if she didn't call me by an expressed number of days.

However, everytime I call the number, all I get is an answering machine. My question is, should I leave a message on the answering machine, and if so, what should I say (I'm a bit reluctant to do this, because it just seems a bit intrusive......), or should I call the committee in charge of interviews, and if then, what should I say?

dude, as long as you're pleasant and dont stutter too much, you'll be fine....just be nice when you call, and when making plans, be as flexible as possible....dont be nervous...remember, the most conventional people are sometimes the most forgotten people

I called the alum coordinator and got my interviewers e-mail addy. She was greatful I did because she wanted to interview me that weekend and it was hard to get in contact by phone.

if you are gonna leave a message, and are uncomfertable about what you might say, just write your message out in advance. that way, you wont say anything stupid.

That is a mean comment. It may be slightly intimidating to leave a message for a person who is going to have considerably influence your college admissions, and thus, the future of your life. Also, some people do better in person than on phones.

Perhaps people who lack the social grace to actually provide help when a person asks (instead of posting comments that can in no be construed as helpful) should not get in.

LOL - I understand what you mean, I don't mind talking on phones, even enjoy it, but I HATE answering machines...They're like robots, shudders Anything else is fine for leaving messages, notes, emails, word of mouth, person on the phone, whatever, but the recording box? shudders

I would though, because if it's their home number they may either not get home until late or be one of those people who doesn't answer the phone until they hear who it is. I know people who do that...
