Extra Curriculars:
FIRST Robotics Team - I have been deeply involved with the team at my school for four years, two of which were spent on the executive board. Each year, FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition in Science and Technology) creates a new game in which robots made by each individual team compete in teams of 3. Last year, we made it to the World Championships in Atlanta, Georgia. While I was on the team, we have won many awards, including the gracious professionalism (four times), the Industrial Design award, and the innovation in control award. We also participate in the IFI VEX Robotics competition, where our team hosted the international competition. At that competition, we won the community award. I also wrote the winning essay for the VEX World Championship's teacher of the year award.

Magnet Student Council- I have been on the student council for four years as a ninth grade senator, tenth grade senator, historian, and twelfth grade senator.

Art Center College of Design Classes- I have taken four classes for high school students (Saturday High) at Art Center in Industrial Design. These classes are: Introduction to Product and Transportation Design (Fall 2007), Object + Space: Brand Experience (August 2008), Intermediate Product and Transportation Design (Fall 2008), and Industrial Drawing Techniques (Fall 2008).

LACMA- One week street photography course

Habitat for Humanity- This volunteer organization uses volunteer work to build houses for low-income families. I volunteered for 153 hours, helping out at the build site helping to build the houses as well as manage volunteers. I also interned in their regional offices attending team builds and media events. I volunteered with Habitat for Humanity in the summers after tenth and eleventh grades.

Wheels for Humanity- This volunteer organization repairs donated wheelchairs and ships them off to third world countries for people with debilitating diseases. I have repaired over 70 wheel chairs over the course of three summers.

AIDS Walk- A yearly event in Los Angeles where thousands of people support research to find a cure. I have walked in the AIDS Walk for five years straight, since 2004.

COSMOS- This summer program is sponsored by the University of California system, giving the top math and science students a chance to further their education. I was in the Nuclear Physics and Electro-optics group, culminating with a trip to Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico. I participated in COSMOS during the summer after eleventh grade.

PUMP- This program is for students who want to further their understanding of math with advanced calculus. It is subsidized by the Cal-State system, and meets during the year. I participated all year during my junior year.

Institute for Educational Advancement- This program was designed for students to further their studies in a topic that interests them. I studied Industrial Design for four weeks straight at Art Center College of Design while living on Cal-tech's campus in the summer after tenth grade.

Experiment in International Living- I did a four week home stay and language immersion program in Matsuyama, Japan in the summer after ninth grade.

ID Tech Camps- I did a two week home stay, language immersion, and documentary making program in Cadiz, Spain in the summer before ninth grade.

Los Angeles department of airports- one week or career exploration in the aeronautical engineering industry- visited lots of airports for some serious behind the scenes stuff.
